February 14 2012 - May 19 2024 Toy PoodleFrom early puppyhood Barkley AKA “Barks” was bright, outgoing and eager to learn. After Snake Training class with Animal Actors at 16 weeks old he took Animal Actors Novice Obedience, Open Obedience,and Utility Obedience. He went on to Movie Dogs where his talent performing tricks inspired his owner to put him to work as a show biz dog! Barkley’s first job was for Pierce Energy Company where he starred as “Barkley the Energy Saving Dog” in videos aimed to educate kindergarteners around the country about energy conservation. Barkley went on to perform in “Barkley's Tips and Tricks'' shows which provided therapy, entertainment and inspiration to seniors in assisted living centers. He also loved working at schools where he taught kids the importance of exercise, gratitude, helping others and even brushing teeth! Barkley also worked at many live parties and events.

Barkley's intelligence and biddability lead to several AKC titles: Good Canine Citizen, Companion Dog, and Trick Dog: Performer Level. He was also a certified Therapy Dog.

Barkley will be remembered at the Animal Actor Dog Walks for his antics such as crawling under the bullpen fence to roll in a pile of bull poop until his beautiful white poodle fur was caked with green; or for his response to clapping: running excitedly in the middle of the trainers circle, barking in all directions and instigating the other dogs to leave their positions and join him in the mayhem.

Whether he was performing a perfect heal with the demeanor of a standard poodle, laying on his placemat in public, doing tricks on stage or around town; spreading messages in his videos, cuddling on the lap of a family member, waiting in a perfect sit stay at Sky Harbor Airport awaiting his owner’s appearance through the arrival gate; running on the beach chasing birds, Barkley brought joy and laughter to thousands.
